Celebrating Transformational Leadership: Brigitte Johnson Recognized for workforce fairness initiatives Work

Care Plus NJ’s CEO and President, Brigitte Johnson, has been awarded the Transformational Leadership in workforce fairness initiatives Award by the New Jersey Association of Behavioral Health & Addiction Agencies (NJAMHAA). This is in recognition of her lifelong commitment to variation, fairness and participation (workforce fairness initiatives).

Brigitte was honored with the workforce fairness initiatives Leadership Award during NJAMHAA’s virtual membership meeting, where her exceptional work in variation, fairness, and participation was celebrated. Her leadership at Care Plus NJ, coupled with her impactful service on the boards of NJAMHAA and the New Jersey Behavioral Health Institute, has significantly advanced workforce fairness initiatives and participation initiatives within the Behavioral Health and addiction services field.

At Care Plus NJ

From the very beginning, Brigitte has been dedicated to fostering an welcoming of participation culture and leadership team. In response to the tragic murder of George Floyd in May 2020, she established Care Plus NJ’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Action (IDEA) Committee. This initiative reflects Brigitte’s vision for enhancing variation and creating a more welcoming of participation and fair organization.

Under her leadership, the IDEA Committee is committed to driving both community education and internal cultural individualformation. Key initiatives include:

Staff Support Groups:

Weekly staff-to-staff support groups to create an welcoming of participation workplace to encourage talking and support for all in leadership positions as well as front line staff.

HR Policy Revisions:

Updating the organization’s human resources policies and procedures to reflect workforce fairness initiatives efforts and principles.

Cultural Integration:

Continuing to integrate workforce fairness initiatives insights and dedication into all aspects of the organizations excellence.

Inclusive Care

Brigitte’s approach to workforce fairness initiatives individualcends mere compliance or superficial social awareness; it’s about fostering innovation and broadening our perspectives. ‘Diversity, fairness, and participation are not just gestures to meet quotas or appear socially conscious,’ Brigitte stated. ‘They represent a dynamic expansion of our viewpoints, possibilities, and capabilities. workforce fairness initiatives in the workplace introduces new perspectives, prevents narrow thinking, and encourages mindfulness. It’s essential for mental and behavioral health care to effectively address each client’s unique needs.’

Brigitte is committed to ensuring that Care Plus NJ can recognize and meet the needs of a varied community with compassion and understanding. She also expressed her gratitude to the Care Plus NJ team for their dedication and support in advancing a more welcoming of participation organization.

Recognition and Appreciation

Brigitte’s award from NJAMHAA is a nod to the work she’s done on in increasing variation, fairness, and participation. The variation awards recognize not only her individual commitment but the importance of workforce fairness initiatives in all workplaces and communities. “I’m grateful to the Care Plus NJ team for their participation and support in creating a more welcoming of participation organization and to the New Jersey Association of Behavioral Health & Addiction Agencies for recognizing my work and workforce fairness initiatives in all workplaces and communities,” Brigitte said.

Belief

Belief refers to the confidence, faith, and conviction that individuals have in their ability to overcome addiction, make positive changes in their lives, and maintain long-term recovery. In substance use recovery learning self efficacy (self-belief), challenging negative beliefs, creating a positive mindset, and investing in new values gained from addressing one’s substance use disorder and Behavioral Health issues – improves oneself, relationships, and the future.

Every patient at Care Plus NJ has access to Behavioral Health professionals, including psychiatrists, and psychologists. In addition, each is assigned a case manager, drug and alcohol counselor, and peer recovery specialist who play a pivotal role in the treatment process.

As a Behavioral Health professional, they guide education, group therapy and support groups and other Behavioral Health services as indicated based on each persons needs.

Motivation

Motivation refers to the internal drive, desire, and commitment of an individual to initiate and sustain positive changes in their behavior, lifestyle, and overall well-being. It is a crucial factor in the C.L.I.M.B. recovery process, as overcoming addiction often requires significant effort, perseverance, and a genuine commitment to change.

Motivated individuals in recovery set clear and realistic goals for themselves. Utilizing the stages of change model, Care Plus NJ walks patients through various stages of a substance use disorder, including precontemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, maintenance, and relapse prevention. Understanding these stages helps individuals navigate their unique recovery journey.

Insight refers to a deep and clear understanding of oneself, one’s behaviors, and the factors contributing to substance abuse. It involves gaining awareness into the root causes of addiction, recognizing patterns of behavior, and developing a clearer understanding of the impact of substance use on various aspects of one’s life. Insight is a critical component of the recovery process as it provides a foundation for positive change and sustained recovery.

Insight involves exploring the underlying issues that may contribute to drug abuse, such as past severe psychological distresss, Behavioral Health issues, or unresolved emotional challenges. Addressing these root causes is essential for long-term recovery.

Courage in the context of recovering from drug addiction, refers to the ability to confront and overcome the challenges and fears associated with the recovery process in a person’s life. It involves facing one’s vulnerabilities, acknowledging the need for change, and taking positive steps toward a healthier and drug-free life.

Love plays a significant and multifaceted role in the process of recovery from drug and substance abuse. Having a network of supportive and understanding family members, friends, or partners is immensely valuable during the recovery journey. Community, fellowship and support groups emphasize the importance of connection with others who understand the challenges of addiction. Repairing relationships damaged by substance use often involves acts of love, forgiveness, and rebuilding trust.

In essence, love in the context of substance use recovery encompasses self-love, support from others, understanding, accountability, community, rebuilding relationships, and a renewed appreciation for life.
