From its beginnings as a community behavioral health center in 1978, Care Plus NJ has achieved significant milestones in behavioral healthcare, emphasizing integrated care models. Milestones include notable certifications and partnerships, such as managing the state’s largest public hospital, developing a partnership with Bergen New Bridge Medical Center, and leading in school-based services.

Leadership is dedicated to continuing this evolution, focusing on the varied needs of the communities served. We are committed to continuing the legacy of innovative and comprehensive care to address behavioral health, addiction, and psychiatric crises.

Revenue Report Care Plus NJ

The Revenue section of the Care Plus NJ Annual Report indicates significant financial growth, with total revenue. Government grants, patient revenue, and other income sources, including the Care Plus Foundation, Care Plus Workforce Solutions, and the Paradigm Therapeutic Day System are included in the data. The figures reflect the organization’s ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive, integrated behavioral healthcare treatment options across programs for adults, children, and families in northern New Jersey.

As a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), our agency is able to offer quality behavioral healthcare to clients and their families in Bergen County and throughout New Jersey.

The Clinical Services section of the Care Plus NJ Annual Report details our service for outpatient treatment for serious mental illnesses, substance use disorders, and support for veterans, emphasizing evidence-based and welcoming of participation care. The Maternal and Family Center provides specialized care for perinatal behavioral health, catering to a varied clientele with evidence-based services.

Addiction and Recovery Services

Care Plus NJ’s Addiction and Recovery Services offer comprehensive, evidence-based care for those affected by addiction, including specialized programs for pregnant/postpartum individuals and addiction recovery professionals.

The organization supports recovery through a range of services such as medication-assisted treatment. Key initiatives include a Maternal Wraparound Program, Opiate Provider Therapeutic Individualized Care Services, and the Family Support Center, each designed to provide targeted support and improve treatment access and outcomes.

Hospital & Community Services

The Hospital & Community Services Division of Care Plus NJ works with various organizations to address complex issues such as homelessness, mental illness, and addiction in Bergen County. Reducing recidivism, achieving cost savings in hospitalization, and supporting individuals through crisis intervention, evaluation, and stabilization programs changes lives.

Key programs like the Psychiatric Emergency Screening Program and Crossroads to Wellness provide crucial support and have shown positive outcomes in community stabilization and rapid access to behavioral health services.

Children & Family Services

The Children & Family Services Division of Care Plus NJ offers comprehensive support focusing on early intervention, prevention, and crisis stabilization for children and families. Services have expanded in response to the behavioral health crisis in our community. Programs like Children’s Mobile Response and Stabilization Services (CMRSS) provide 24/7 crisis intervention for youth, while School-Based Services offer tailored behavioral health support.

Additionally, the Healthy Families program educates new parents to promote healthy child development, and programs for “aging out youth” aid in the transition to adulthood.

Trauma Recovery Center

Care Plus NJ offers specialized severe psychological distress services through programs like the Trauma Recovery Center and Bergen New Bridge Medical Center Trauma Treatment Center, focusing on comprehensive behavioral health services for survivors of violent crimes and severe psychological trauma-informed care training for professionals. It also leads the Traumatic Loss Coalition, providing support and training to communities affected by tragic events to promote healing and resilience.

Consultation & Education

Care Plus NJ’s Consultation & Education services include the ETC Committee and training initiatives focusing on education, training, consultation, behavioral health awareness, and crisis intervention. The organization offers comprehensive training to employees and community members to ensure a culture of fairness, participation, and respect, impacting hundreds through educational series and specialized training programs for various groups including law enforcement and first responders.

School-Based Services

Care Plus NJ’s School-Based Services include violence prevention training, school clearance assessments, and Paradigm Therapeutic Day System, focusing on comprehensive support for students’ behavioral health and safety. These services aim to mitigate violence and behavioral health crises in schools while providing a supportive educational environment for students with emotional functional limitations.

Care Plus Workforce Solutions

Care Plus Workforce Solutions, a nonprofit social enterprise, offers employment and training to those facing behavioral health challenges or economic disadvantages, focusing on essential services like janitorial and laundry work.

The Care Plus Foundation

Care Plus Foundation supports individuals and families by enhancing Care Plus NJ programs and raising community awareness. It offers financial aid for essentials like medication, housing, groceries, and access to therapeutic support.

Support our Mission

Belief

Belief refers to the confidence, faith, and conviction that individuals have in their ability to overcome addiction, make positive changes in their lives, and maintain long-term recovery. In substance use recovery learning self efficacy (self-belief), challenging negative beliefs, creating a positive mindset, and investing in new values gained from addressing one’s substance use disorder and Behavioral Health issues – improves oneself, relationships, and the future.

Every patient at Care Plus NJ has access to Behavioral Health professionals, including psychiatrists, and psychologists. In addition, each is assigned a case manager, drug and alcohol counselor, and peer recovery specialist who play a pivotal role in the treatment process.

As a Behavioral Health professional, they guide education, group therapy and support groups and other Behavioral Health services as indicated based on each persons needs.

Motivation refers to the internal drive, desire, and commitment of an individual to initiate and sustain positive changes in their behavior, lifestyle, and overall well-being. It is a crucial factor in the C.L.I.M.B. recovery process, as overcoming addiction often requires significant effort, perseverance, and a genuine commitment to change.

Motivated individuals in recovery set clear and realistic goals for themselves. Utilizing the stages of change model, Care Plus NJ walks patients through various stages of a substance use disorder, including precontemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, maintenance, and relapse prevention. Understanding these stages helps individuals navigate their unique recovery journey.
