Description
Youth Mental Health First Aid is an 8-hour training course designed to give members of the public key skills to help a youth or young adult who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. Just as CPR training helps a layperson without medical training assist an individual following a heart attack, YMHFA training helps a layperson assist someone experiencing a mental health crisis. This national 8-hour course that teaches participants the difference between normal adolescence versus mental health problems, and what you might see as far as behaviors or physical symptoms if a problem is developing. The course teaches the basic skills to intervene and respond to a youth in psychological distress.
