Weichert Realtors of Fair Lawn organized a toy drive to provide holiday gifts to children who participate in programs at Care Plus NJ, Inc.’s Children and Family Services Division, also in Fair Lawn.
Nicole McQuillen, LCSW and Sabrina Coppola, LCSW of Care Plus NJ, Inc. (“CarePlus”) got to play Santa’s helpers yesterday when they picked up gifts from Weichert Realtors. Susan Devine and Cori Mintzer organized a toy drive – along with 40 agents from the Weichert Fair Lawn office – to ensure that children in CarePlus’ programs received a gift for the holiday season.
This isn’t the first time that the team at Weichert has been so generous; they have been running the toy drive for the past eight years.
When Devine and Mintzer were asked what inspires them to continue what has become a holiday tradition they said, “We want to make sure that children who can’t have a holiday, can enjoy the day like others. It makes the holiday season happier and more personal when each child receives an individual gift.”
The gifts donated by Weichert are shared between multiple programs in the Children and Family Division of CarePlus. The recipients range in age from infants to young adults who are aging out of the system at age 21. Most participate in a combination of on-site programming at CarePlus’ Adoption House, clinical and outreach programs such as Partnership for Children, In-home Foster Care, and Homeward Bound.
“We’re so happy that our children are the beneficiaries of the kindness and generosity of the team at Weichert in Fair Lawn,” stated Nicole McQuillen, LCSW, the Director of CarePlus Children and Family Services. “Many are not in the situation where they receive gifts from parents or other family members, so this really makes an important difference in their lives,” she shared.
The gifts are distributed by CarePlus staff during service delivery on site and in the community.
