To further their commitment to quality, innovation, and cost containment in the field of integrated primary and mental health care, Care Plus NJ, Inc. (CarePlus) has announced their membership in the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute (NJHCQI).
As a leading provider of outpatient mental health care for adults and children in the northern New Jersey area since 1978, CarePlus expanded services to include integrated primary care. This innovative move in 2009 – initiated with a grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) – allows them to offer a complete holistic approach to their patients’ care, treating both the mind and body for optimal health outcomes. For example, CarePlus patients can see an on-site primary care physician to manage any physical health concerns, and are also offered a variety of opportunities to exercise in their on-site gym, learn proper nutrition, and other holistic services.
“Providing integrated, holistic care means looking at the mind and body as a whole. Our tagline line is ‘Healthy minds, healthy bodies,’ however, to us it is not just a marketing statement; it is the way we care for others and the positive outcome we are looking to them to achieve,” Masciandaro shared.
The NJHCQI, founded in 1997, brings together all key stakeholders to make “real and measurable improvements” to New Jersey’s health care system. As stated on their website, the organization’s purpose is to “undertake projects that will ensure that quality, accountability, and cost containment are all closely linked to the delivery of health care services in New Jersey.”
Some of the topics NJHCQI addresses include Health Care Reform, Patient Safety, the Development of Accountable Care Organizations (ACO), and Workplace Wellness.
As a Provider-Level NJHCQI member, CarePlus is looking forward to collaborating on innovative projects and sharing ideas that will help their organization, and others like theirs, provide the highest level of service for their patients.
“It’s organizations like NJHCQI that bring together some of the best that New Jersey health care offers and allows us to create greater opportunity for expanded care options for the public,” stated Joseph Masciandaro, President and CEO of CarePlus.
CarePlus is fully licensed by NJ Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) to provide adult partial care and outpatient services as well as to operate adult group homes, and the NJ Department of Health and Senior Services as an Ambulatory Care Facility. The organization is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).
“We are proud to be called an NJHCQI Partner in Quality amongst other industry thought leaders who are dedicated to quality and innovation,” Masciandaro shared.
