Responding to a Behavioral Health Crisis: Training Video

We’re proud to be a part of the Behavioral Health and Law Enforcement Task Force in Bergen County. The initiative allows us to collaborate with law enforcement and various Behavioral Health providers, while widening our reach to help remove the stigma associated with mental illness. As part of this initiative, the task force developed educational materials to ensure the widest possible distribution of this valuable information. A result of that effort is shown in our first video, “Responding to a Behavioral Health Crisis“.

About the Video

Care Plus NJ partnered with local law enforcement officers, Behavioral Health providers, as well as representatives, planning, and media specialists to produce a community health message on how to effectively respond to a Behavioral Health crisis. The video shows what can happen when a person experiences a Behavioral Health crisis and how family members, police, and Behavioral Health screeners respond to the crisis.

Amie Doyno, Director of the Care Plus NJ Psychiatric Emergency Screening Program (PESP, also known as 262-HELP), uses her experience as a Certified Behavioral Health Screener to illustrate what could happen when someone experiences a Behavioral Health crisis.

A brochure with additional information on how to respond during a Behavioral Health crisis is available in PDF format by clicking here. To order a DVD of the video or printed brochures, contact the Bergen County Behavioral Health Board Office at healthdept@co.bergen.nj.us or call 201-634-2750.
