A free, for-credit workshop is being offered to introduce the new Behavioral Health Home model to physicians and their practice managers and staff. Speakers include a representative from the Office of Managed Care, NJ Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services, plus representatives from New Jersey Health Information Technology Extension Center (NJ-HITEC) and Care Plus NJ, Inc. (CarePlus).
“Managing Patients Within a New System of Care” is a two-hour event, being held at the CarePlus Paramus headquarters on September 10th at 10:00am. It is designed to provide attendees with insight on the Behavioral Health Home concept and how it will impact their patients and practices.
The objectives of the event include a discussion of the New Jersey mental health and psychiatric system and the effects of the Affordable Care Act; concepts behind the State’s vision for the Behavioral Health Home concept and how it relates to a Patient-Centered Medical Home; the impact on patients in the Behavioral Health Home; leveraging Meaningful Use and the Electronic Health Record to support the initiative; and, a discussion on improved outcomes for patients with mental health needs.
In addition to the State representative, speakers include George Kruse, MD, Assia Bromberg, MD, and Kathleen Bianco, APRN-BC, each from CarePlus; and Herminio Navia, Jr., BSN, RN and Ronald Manke, both from NJ-HITEC.
In July, CarePlus was awarded the Behavioral Health Home certification from the State of New Jersey Department of Human Services, Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS). They are the first in the state to receive the designation.
This event is provided jointly through the Health Research and Educational and Trust of New Jersey (HRET) and NJ-HITEC, and offers 1.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. HRET is accredited by the Medical Society of New Jersey (MSNJ) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
