K_Ehrenberg _ Color_SMALLApril 23, 2015 – Paramus, NJ – In recognition of his leadership and commitment to service, the CarePlus Foundation is proud to honor Kenneth R. Ehrenberg, Paramus Chief of Police, at the 17th Annual Courage Awards Gala being held on June 3, 2015 at The Venetian in Garfield, NJ.

“The Paramus Police Department is committed to preserving the peace, upholding the law and providing quality service in partnership with our community,” begins the Department’s mission statement. “We are committed to empowering our members and the community to resolve problems by creating an environment that encourages solutions that address the needs of the community.” CarePlus noted that the statement is true to the service that the Paramus Police Department provides under Chief Ehrenberg’s leadership.

The organization is grateful for the compassionate service the police force provides for CarePlus staff and clients alike. Additionally, the Paramus Police Department has gone above and beyond in supporting the Paramus Stigma-Free Zone Initiative, as well as participating in Mental Health First Aid training.

“The Department will continue working with other organizations – such as the Paramus School System, private schools, Paramus Human Services, and groups such as the Paramus Stigma-Free Zone – to address the needs of our community in order to provide the best service in the State,” said Ehrenberg in the 2014 Annual Report.

Ehrenberg is being honored not only as a collaborative leader in crisis de-escalation, but also as an innovator in bringing mental health awareness to the police force.

This year’s honorees also include The Sefcik Family, survivors of suicide loss and advocates in prevention with their presentation “Remembering T.J. – A Story of Teen Depression, Lessons and Hope”; and John Cosgrove, Mayor of Fair Lawn and supporter of the Fair Lawn Stigma-Free Zone initiative. The CarePlus Foundation will also award Dr. Dina Vaynberg with the Compassionate Care Award for her work at CarePlus, representing the best in the field of mental health care. In addition to the honorees, the event will recognize the recipients of the 2015 Bernard Dubnick Scholarship.
